I am in Chapter 3 of Woodward's book where Bannon, Invanka, Kushner, and trump were in the

interview process for Secretary of Defense and Secretary of State, and there are some interesting observations

For the Secretary of Defense interview trump immediately brought up NATO, expressing how we didn't need NATO. Mattis reminded him how NATO came to our aid after the 9/11 attacks in Afghanistan which they lost more "boys per capita in Afghanistan" than we have. Mattis held fast, and said we need NATO, and that it helped prevented "real war" on the European continent.

When trump voiced approval of torture to obtain information from captured terrorists, Mattis did not go into a long explanation why it was counter productive, but instead to trump that torture damages us, and you could get just as much out of them with a cup of coffee and a cigarette.

trump was well aware that Mattis was fired by President Obama because of Mattis aggressiveness toward Iran while the Obama administration was negotiating a nuclear deal with Iran.

When Tillerson was being interviewed for Secretary of State, what seemed to impress trump the most I thought was Tillerson's interaction with Putin when he was CEO of ExxonMobil. Putin expressed to Tillerson how much he despised Obama.

I am only on Chapter 3, but it just clicked on me during the Rex Tillerson interview for Secretary of State, just the obsession and hatred trump feels toward President Obama

Trump is one sick demented asshole, and without a doubt that is manifested in everything he does.

It was the other day when trump was leading his groupies to chant "lock Obama up" at one of his rallies, or when Cohen indicated in his book that trump hired a "faux-bama" for an apprentice parody video to "belittle the first black president's record", and then fire him

WTF

One interesting thing related in the book was when Mattis called his 94 year old mother to tell her he had been offered Sec of Defense under trump. His mother who had served in Army intelligence in WWII hated trump, and asked her son, "How can you work for that man"?

Mattis told her he would be working for the Constitution and not trump

I mused just how wrong he was in trump's mind, where trump demanded loyalty to him over everything else
