When and how to vote in all 50 states
Axios

Stef W. Kight, Naema Ahme

Millions of Americans who normally vote in person on election day will turn to early voting or mail-in ballots this fall — but that only works if you understand your state's election rules, deadlines and how to ensure your vote is counted.

Driving the news: Axios is launching an interactive resource, built on research by RepresentUs, a nonpartisan election reform group, to help voters across the country to get the information they need.

"This election year, voters need to take more time and effort to navigate the challenges of a pandemic," U.S. Elections Assistance Commissioner Donald Palmer tells Axios.

It will be critical for voters to have updated information on their options "to make sure that this election is a true reflection of the will of the people," said Matt Strabone, senior counsel for RepresentUs.

Just scroll down the list of states and click on the link for your state.

The virus has been disproportionately impacting black and brown Americans. So we lose 2-3 million democratic voters. Trump is on board 100%. Only a white supremacist would think this way followed by his racist boss.

That's the whole idea, Steve Schmidt. That's exactly what Trump intended - the end of the United States of America.

I still wonder who's really financially backing him. Those tax returns will prove a hot ticket.

Sep 2020

'When Churchill was on the top of a building, and he said everything’s going to be good, everything’s going to be – be calm, and you have the Nazis dropping bombs all over London, he was very brave because he was at the top of a building,' Trump told ABC News' George Stephanopoulos.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8737509/Donald-Trump-claims-Winston-Churchill-not-honest-asked-people-London-calm.html

**********

Yes, Churchill stayed in London during the Blitz but during the air raids he went down into his War Room which
was a bunker not far from 10 Downing St.. The British had radar and when they saw nazi planes coming they
sounded the warning, scrambled the RAF, the people of England went underground (the tube in London),
and Churchill went to his bunker. This is in all the history books and if you go to London you can visit Churchill's
"War Room."

and Schmidt is establishing himself as the dominant intellectual force in politics for decades to come. We have our great Democrats, Krugman, Reich, Carville among many others, but offhand I can't find one that can bludgeon an opponent with as withering an assault as Steve Schmidt. May he always choose the high road and be a force for the allies he has helped in this battle with Trumpism.

Still TBD is wether or not LP will turn this kind of very effective attack against democratic party policy initiatives once they help rid us of trump.

I'll take the help they're offering, but Steve is one of the guys who spent their entire career devising the 'quiet part' of the Southern Strategy; he helped build this goddamm national frankenstein (even if he quit the lab before the final procedure--to his credit yes), and until I hear a Mea Culpa for THAT, they dont get a seat at the grown adults Policy Table. They can OWN the fact that they dont have a party for a while because they helped destroy it, afaic.

ymmv.

(On Edit) I like steve a lot, hes whip smart, and I listen to Rick Wilson's podcast. They're brains are appreciated, but that's not the same as asking for forgivness.

I don't think it's easy for him, all this destruction of the country and his party. He may or may not have been consulted, one side or the other may or may not be too interested in merging the parties' consultants, each has their secret sauce after all, proprietary information, there may be dialogues ongoing here and there. But really, with the transparency of his messages, his dominant cudgel used on Trump, why would you need to pay him anything? You already have sound political advice with no room for blowback, free, in the public airwaves, bar none. I'd suspect old time mainstream Republicans and Democrats forge a better dialogue post-Trump because of this battle and people like Steve Schmidt. These are patriots who know crisis when they see it.

And even IF herd immunity happens (last I heard, it may not be possible due to the possibility of re-infections), the virus would kill 3 million Americans as it burns its way through the population and when it finally subsides Trump will claim "victory" and pat himself on the back for a job well done.

Trump: Utterly lazy. Utterly immoral. Utterly useless.

Trump is the laziest president in history. He works about 3 hours a day, if earlier estimates of his normal work day are accurate. I see no reason to believe they're mistaken.

Someone found him a "Doctor" (actually he's a gas passer, and has no experience with epidemiology or infectious diseases) who would tell tRump what he wants to hear. That's music to tRump's ears because it requires - as you say - no effort on his part. This stable genius, with the very good brain, just can't walk and chew gum at the same time.

you can check off for Trump. It's hard to say if he's even aware of how lazy he is since he's literally never worked a day in his life. He probably has an idea of what work is and he knows that he doesn't do it, but I doubt that he has any kind of work ethic or feels any guilt about wasting his time.

And Rick Wilson are the only two Republicans that are still based in reality and put country before party as far as I can tell and I appreciate that. Right now it is a “the enemy of my enemy is a friend” kind of situation but if and when the day ever comes that the GOP regains a foothold in reality and facts as a party these two will go back to fighting to end social safety programs and progressive advance made since FDR.

I am glad they are helping in the resistance to DT but I find it odd and a bit sad that the most vocal opponents of DT right now are ATM ex-GOP’ers who are not onboard with a dictatorship and not Democratic Party Reps or Senators.

and was struck by your last sentence: "....I find it odd and a bit sad that the most vocal opponents of DT right now are ATM ex-GOP’ers who are not onboard with a dictatorship and not Democratic Party Reps or Senators."

It made me think - I do NOT see any (or at best, maybe a few) Democratic Party Reps or Senators out there fighting the Trump regime.
We ALWAYS see the RepubliCon idiots (Gohmert, Graham, Johnson, etc.....) and they get free time to prove how dumb they are in defense of BunkerBoy - but other than AOC, Nancy, Schumer - who is out there calling all of these RepubliCon moves for what they are - total BULLSHIT and, in many instances, racist, bigoted, and Un-American!

With a good, witty, brilliant attack on any issue they surely would get some free exposure and give Democratic supporters someone else to cheer for.

the value of social safety net programs, even the ACA. They're not "tear everything down" teabaggers. They're not liberals by any means, but they're not Libertarians or religious nutjobs. There's plenty we'll disagree on down the road, but they believe in science. They believe in climate change. We need at least a two-party system for the long term health of the country, but right now we only have one viable party and they know that. Hopefully, they'll be the nucleus of a rational party going forward. Only time will tell. If not, then we'll just have to keep electing Democrats and I think they'll help until the kooks, charlatans, the science-deniers are rooted out. It's gonna take a lot of time, sadly.
