Local School Notes

Northeast Illinois. Exurban fringes of Chicagoland.
District about 12 miles west took HS to 100% on line after 5 positive tests in 2.5 days. They were doing a hybrid model, of 4 hours in school, 1.5 hours online, daily. They're fully online until the 30th.
The elementary & middle schools are still open as prior.
There are under 500 kids in the HS, so this was an infection rate of 0.4% per day. Reasonably frightening.

In this same district I got a sub call from the automated system for an 8 day assignment on Wednesday This call came at 6:52 in the morning, and school starts at 7:30. I got a call late morning the day before (Tuesday) for a half day, for the same teacher.. 8&1/2 school days and 2 weekend sounds like quarantine, to me. I didn't take the gig.*

The district to the south that had 5 cases in 2 weeks has had no further cases, and that zip code shows only one more case than when I checked around September 2.

Our district in town has reported only one case since school started. But, given all 3 of these districts are around the same size, I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop.

* Even in the dead of winter I wouldn't take an 8 day assignment. We don't need the money and I'm not working 8 straight days, under any circumstances. Besides, there are some subs that could use the $840. I'll leave it for them.
It'd just be extra dispensary money for us!
