It's possible that some GOP Senators who are in trouble, will want to appear less partisan (Original Post) Tony_FLADEM Sep 2020 OP
I doubt they will do the votes before the election. It will be held right after election. Claustrum Sep 2020 #1

before the election.

They will wait and, even if they lose, they will just push it through during the lame duck session. They don't want that fight before the election either.

Our only option will be to pack the court next year. Fuck it.

Republicans need a simple majority to confirm and they expanded their majority since Kavanaugh's razor-thin confirmation.

There's 53 Republicans currently.

Of those Republicans, Collins is likely in the biggest battle of her political life.

I could, believe it or not, see her opposing nomination on that ground. That would mean they still have a simple majority.

So, maybe Romney stands up on principle and says no.

That's still 51 Republicans. Democrats would need to find another flipper - and hope no Democrat confirms. Moreover, they also need to hope Lisa from Alaska votes no.

It's too much to hope for, IMO.

To be honest, I don't think Collins does it. She's desperate to keep her seat and that could be her political death. Romney may continue to have a backbone, so, that takes us down to 51 Republicans. That's still a majority, though. You need two more so that Pence isn't the tie-breaker for a simple majority. Believe it or not, Graham, who's in a political fight, might decide to not confirm for that reason. If he's a no, that leaves one more ... maybe Cory Gardner?

That should be our message: It's over, folks.

Fortunately, I don't have to worry about wasting my time voting.

McTurtle will just get them in a windowless room that has been swept three times in the last ten minutes, and ask anyone wavering, "do you want your campaign funding pulled down to zero this evening or not?"
