I'm freaked out about RBJ's passing. I'm frightened for the rights of Americans, most of all people of color, LGBTQ Americans, and women. How can we stop Moscow Mitch from getting the most vile piece of scum on the court that he can find?

(19,264 posts)Beyond that start reaching out to the most moderate Republicans (calmly and respectfully). It will take 4 Republicans to cross the aisle to stop this injustice. On confirmations the minority party in the Senate has essentially zero power so we need 4 Republicans to break ranks.

But if he does it before the election the same thing applies from my post above but no threat just do it.
Win the Presidency.
Win the Senate.
Expand the Supreme Court to 11.
Biden now has two vacancies to fill.

(4,845 posts)I was against expanding the court just last week. But all bets are off right now.

Onward AND Upward
(122 posts)If you give in to despair and stop fighting you LET them win. I will NEVER let those evil motherfukers steal my life and country without a FIGHT. I am channeling my grief into fighting:
I will honor her legacy by adopting her perseverance. I will fight to the death like Ruth. She didnt give up and neither will I.
STAY IN FIGHT MODE!!! Dont shrink into a hole and give them an easy path. Keep strategizing and looking for the ideas that others will be talking about in coming days.
If Turtle plans a Monday ram through...EVERYONE who can, needs to descend on DC and protest like their life depends on it!
Vulnerable Senators To Target
- Murkowski has already said she wont vote on a judge until after the election. (She is warning Turtle)
- We need to remind Collins of her vulnerability, by adding to her opponent's fund that was started when she voted for Kavenaugh.
- We may be able to get Romney to go along with Murkowski.
Chris Hayes talked about this and now Rachel has Hillary on and she is also bringing these points up and asking us to fight like hell!
- UPDATE: From Rachel: Lindsey Graham is in a tight senate race and had already announced he would not hold a JCommittee vote on a nominee prior to the election, so he most likely wont be a yes on a floor vote if turtle forces one.

To stay determined and create an opportunity. The group Indivisible has had some great legal ideas about how to become a burr in rethuglican saddles.
Put another way, give up now = certain defeat
Stay in the game = possibility for an underdog win
I will follow RBG's & Hillary's lead and FIGHT. LIKE. HELL.
