Heck, I once slept through an aftershock of that magnitude.

Okay, so once I'm asleep I sleep through anything, including earthquakes, but still, 4.8 is hardly a BIG EARTHQUAKE. Really. A little perspective is nice.

had a magnitude of 9.2. And the shaking lasted nearly five full minutes. Now that's a BIG EARTHQUAKE.

While I've only ever been in the one earthquake/aftershock that I slept through, I've long been fascinated by them. The book On Shaky Ground by John Nance is an excellent place to start.

That when I wrote the line in that one post, "Her torch is a blase, the mountains are shacking with her pain.", I didn't know about the earthquake.
And it's not my fault that Mother Nature decided to echo my writing.
