If we win the WH and Congress, it would be within our power to impeach and remove

whoever trump appoints to the SC, using the logic that McConnel set the set the precedent by denying President Obama his SC nomination

I don't know if the Democrats would be unified enough to do it, but it should be seriously considered

AFAIK, impeachment is entirely about the misdeeds of the person not that the process was abused. Thomas Hurt Sep 2020 #1

Compare that number to the number of senators required to vote to remove someone from office.

The process is the same as impeaching the president of the United States. The House of Representatives would vote on whether to impeach the justice in question. If the justice is impeached, there would be a Senate trial.

The House needs only a simple majority to impeach a Supreme Court justice or any federal judge. To convict and then remove the justice or judge, the Senate requires a two-thirds majority.

Much, much easier to use the new Dem Senate to expand SCOTUS to 15 seats, have Biden appoint 6 young, new RBG’s, and dilute the power and influence of any single justice.

THAT is the reason to expand the court

I would also like to see term limits but no bar to reappointment

since he committed perjury, among other misdeeds and probably at least one criminal sexual assault, and is flagrantly unqualified and unfit temperamentally for the SC.

We'll see who Trump picks.

That would be met with massive public blowback, and would rightly be an abuse of power. Besides thag, it wouldn't work. We will not have enough seats, even in our wildest dreams, to convict in the senate.

Much better idea to simply pack the court and make any one court seat small. We should also push for statehood for DC, PR, and Guam.

For judges, it basically boils down to serious criminal conduct to warrant proceedings.

and even if they had we lack the votes to convict. Maybe it’s time to quit screaming “Impeachment” every thirty seconds.
