I think that a lot of the distrust that's been created around the USPS have gotten a ton of votes to vote early and in person. I also think that elections offices will receive most ballots by election day, and be able to have started processing them before the election. As a result, I think that the likelihood of not knowing who the president is on election day will be very slim.

(8,289 posts)Do you think Trump will concede once the media calls it? Or will he just claim it was all rigged, litigate it till inauguration day and hide in his bunker until he is evicted?

(6,137 posts)the ballots will continue to be counted unless SC puts a stop to it.

(19,193 posts)I've been saying for years that there should be paper ballots for all, and if it takes a month to count them all, SO WHAT!
If they declared Biden the winner on election night Trump would cry "it's too early, make sure all the votes are counted before declaring a winner!" You know he would. It'll take however long it takes, and no one should be declared the winner untill all the votes are counted.

(8,289 posts)n't he concede? The truth is, if Biden is ahead on election day and polling is still telling us the same thing, then wouldn't it be obvious Trump lost?

(19,193 posts)You know he's going to kick and scream and hold his breath until he turns blue. I couldn't care less if he held his breath until he died, but in the end, Rump is just a big screaming baby and will not go gently into that good night.

(81 posts)Trump will never conceded.. Even if Joe is up by +10 he will claim voter fraud and double ballots. This is where I get worried cause his cronies will run a investigation, then his SCOTUS will make him the winner.
I hate to say it, but this is going to suck big time.

(81 posts)I am not trying to be dark, but I just don't think Trump is going to say ok, Joe you win.
He has all the power now.

(8,289 posts)And with an overwhelming victory, I have no doubt you likely will be. But if it is close or even close-ish, we will likely see a redux of 2000 on steroids.

(1,602 posts)If Pennsylvania and North Carolina goes against Trump, I think he's lost, because if he's lost NC in particular, he's lost Florida, and without Florida, Trump is screwed. If Ohio votes against him, it'll be a blowout.

(31,810 posts)Ballots can be counted up to two weeks after election day.

(8,289 posts)And even if we haven't won the state (doubtful), most states will have counted the majority of the votes by the time west coast polls close, I think.

(31,810 posts)We would know in a week. They will start counting ballots two weeks prior to the polls closing.

(3,406 posts)By 9:00 it will be clear that Trump 's path to 270 is gone. Michigan, Pennsylvania, Florida, and North Carolina, will be solid blue. Ohio and Georgia will be trending for Biden.
By 10:00 Wisconsin and Minnesota will be called. Texas and Iowa. Early results from Arizona will be promising.
At 11:00 results from the Pacific Blue Wall including Nevada will give Biden a solid 300+ tally in the Electoral College with another 100 EVs still not clear from states like Ohio, Georgia, Iowa, and Texas. By that time, they won't matter.
The win will be unambiguous and humiliating for the man-child POTUS.
Tradition would have us hear a warm concession speech to begin uniting the country. Instead we will hear baseless charges of voter fraud and Presidential grievance. The Brooks Brothers Riot team will do their best to make noise and file frivolous lawsuits, but the die will be cast.
Trump will arrange his own pardon, and pardons for hundreds of friends and familiy. He will try to escape accountability, but state finance laws and civil suits for fraud and rape will bankrupt him again. The Russians will pull the vig. He may soon find himself between Russian hitmen and an open window in a tall building. Putin does not want his puppet exposing the crimes once Trump is no use to him.
Buckle up. The election is only the beginning.

(15,585 posts)Florida counts its absentee ballots as they are received, so the tally can be released immediately after the polls close.
Its quite likely that a winner can be projected for FL on election night.
If Trump wins FL, then we may have to wait several days, perhaps weeks, for final counts In other states to be certified.
However, if Biden wins FL, its all over for Trump, he has no path to 270 EVs without FL.
If Biden wins FL, then we will know the next president on election night, we just wont know by how much he won.
