"the libruls won't be happy 'til they take ahr guns". I mean, what is that about? I've known people that can't come up with $300 dollars for an emergency, but they'll have at least 1 hand gun each. It's as if they've sprung up, spawned by extra terrestrials. It's always been especially entertaining when they try to wrangle the 2nd amendment into that misguided conversation. Ultimately they end up quoting Limbaugh but refuse to admit that's their source, "Ah only listen to-eem a little while when ahm in th' truck tuh woerk". And YES, they actually do talk like that.

They seem to ignore the fact there's a lot of Democrats who are hunters wishing to keep their guns.

It's not that Drumpf is paranoid about it...it's that he's trying to make his base paranoid about it!

Drumpf knows that the democrats don't want to destroy the 2nd amendment but he's creating that fear in his base that we want to!

Drumpf doesn't even have any concern one way or the other about the 2nd amendment but he sure knows that's a hot topic for his base!

Trump doesn't really care about most issues, he just uses them for political advantage. Just like he doesn't care about abortion and has no use whatsoever for the Christian church. Anything that fires up his base is what he will use. During his rallies, he will take stands based solely on how the crowds react.

There are way too many people who do want to ban all firearm ownership and confiscate what is out there.

You mean the IQ based firearm ownership requirement? Or the psychology based amendment? Or how about hunting only with prey animals' parents signature? Or providing animals with equal fire power. Or hunter hunters.
Way too many people. More than one could count, I'm sure.

In a country of 300 million, we can allege any reductio ad absurdum and find a handful who will champion it. Yet unless they are able to enact legislation or create a valid movement, they are but words.

And yeah... as Horatian Satire goes, it's both pretty damn funny and effective at hitting its goal.

Joe Biden's "Plan To End Our Gun Violence Epidemic"

Includes:

"Get weapons of war off our streets." "Ban the manufacture and sale of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines."

One way the Democrats are coming to take your guns is to make it so you can’t get them in the first place.

"Regulate possession of existing assault weapons under the National Firearms Act."

Another way the Democrats are coming to take your guns is to make it very difficult to keep the ones you already have.

The bottom two thirds of Joe's gun safety proposals are terrific! Background checks, theft reporting requirements, red flag laws - I am in favor of laws designed to keep guns out of the hands of people who have been judged with due process not to be permitted to exercise their right to keep and bear arms.

Modern sporting rifles may take much of their technology and design from their more lethal military assault rifle cousins, but they function no differently than a more traditional hunting or target rifle. They are practical, modular, and popular. There are millions and millions and millions of them in private hands but Joe's current gun violence platform proposals would target these weapons, make them illegal to sell, and make them difficult and expensive to own - and would have a negligible effect on gun violence while inflaming the single issue voters who would otherwise vote to save decency, democracy, the environment, and civilization. Think I'm overreacting? Take a look at 2016 and Hillary's warm words about an Australian style gun ban and buyback program. You think that didn't sway some undecideds to vote red in places where she lost by mere thousands of votes?

One of the bright spots of the 2018 races was the squeaker upset victory in Pennsylvania by Conor Lamb, who won a seat which had been in republican hands since 2003 - by fewer than 1000 votes out of over 228,000 cast. Conor Lamb is a USMC veteran. One of his campaign commercials showed him comfortably familiar with a modern sporting rifle at a gun range. How many voters in that formerly red congressional district decided to give the Democrat a chance - because they could see that at least this particular Democrat wasn't coming to take their guns?

I can't afford to be a single issue voter because the fate of civilization the the planet are at stake, but living up to the worst caricature of gun grabbing Democrat is a bad look.
