That would be disastrous for the Rs at all levels.

Beginning on January 20, 2021, impeachment investigations can begin at all levels of the Trump judiciary for those that were able to bypass a real confirmation investigation/process.

That's the kind of thing despots and tyrants do. You and I know the guy would really rather be Pol Pot, but a lot of the electorate is under the impression the US is still under the rule of law rather than the divine right of kings. Slamming a SC justice into the court via a recess appointment would forever solve that misunderstanding.
