okay, I don't mean to catastrophize, but...

when Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski proclaim that they won't support a vote on the replacment for RBG ahead of the election, are they tacitly indicating that they might support one after the election (and before the inauguration) - even if Biden is elected?

Collins needs it after as that is her re-election hope. A vote before negates further usefulness. TheBlackAdder Sep 2020 #18

I’d be more concerned about finding two more holdouts.

I think that you are right to be suspicious about their actual meaning.

Anyone else who has thus far said not until the election, I take that to mean it's open season after the election and before the inauguration.

said election. Politicians don't choose words casually not when there is a huge difference between election day and inauguration day. I find that suspicious.

if McConnell forces a vote. All it means is that they'd prefer there not be a vote prior to election day.

And they and some others might want to postpone it after election.

Don’t know how it all will workout. But if Biden wins big, we hold solid in House, and show well in Senate, a few more might question cramming it through.
