Remember that after Obama won Iowa twice, Trump won it by 9 points!
But the 2018 midterms looked very competitive for Dems and what little polling there has been shows it to be competitive in 2020.

(5,306 posts)you can afford to do these kind of things. I consider Iowa a toss up and very winnable. If nothing else, he's forcing cash-strapped trump to defend places he should have had locked up. trump's campaign seems to be imploding and if it is we need to be there with our knee on his throat until he stops breathing.

(19,038 posts)By being competitive enough to buy ads in TX, GA, and IA he's helping elect Dems everywhere.
It's still a race driven by stats and Biden's stats tell him spending in these states is worth it. Could lead to a more massive blue wave than expected.
I'm expecting Biden to outperform his polling.

(4,986 posts)The Senate race is very competitive here (against Ernst). There's no reason the Pres. race shouldn't also be competitive....Yay!!

(8,289 posts)Something that a substantial number of Obama/Trump voters strongly support.

(8,289 posts)It is a big reason why Senior citizens are now supporting Biden by nearly double digits now, and Iowa is now neck and neck.
But focus groups and surveys have shown that Trump supporters have close to twice more pro choice and supporters of the ACA than Biden does of anti choice anti ACA people. Playing to that crowd in places where there was a large number of Obama/Trump voters like Iowa, is absolutely a winner, and will bring over the large number of voters to convincingly flip the state.
And I know for a fact Biden is starting to substantially play up the ACA expansion theme.
