West Michigan man says yard signs were stolen. So he put up Joe Biden freeway billboards.

After he said eight yard signs were stolen or vandalized, Marshall Stern had had enough.

Stern, a Democrat who lives in Newaygo County, a historically red area in west Michigan, started a GoFundMe to put up a billboard supporting Joe Biden's presidential campaign. The GoFundMe raised over $4,000.

The billboards look like a giant yard sign, right on M-37, one of the busiest highways in the area. He, his wife Nancy and 30 other Democrats came together Saturday afternoon to celebrate the board's unveiling.

"The idea being, 'OK, you're gonna steal my yard signs? Steal this one. Good luck,'" he said.

The cost of billboard advertising depends on format, circulation, demographics, and impressions. Physical billboard costs average $250 per month in rural areas, $1,500-$4,000 in small to midsize cities, and $14,000 and up in larger markets. Digital billboards can cost over $15,000, depending on the location.

Try to find the state campaign headquarters. I tried Googling, calling, nada, nilch. No offices.

Campaign website is no help.

The sign I ordered on Aug. 12 from the official store still has not arrived (but my shirt and buttons did!).

Meanwhile, the block on which I live in this small town of 1500 now has 3 Trump yard signs and a flag. 2 to 4 blocks from here are 2 more flags, a barn sign, and 3 more yard signs.

I ordered a "BYE DON" sign from eBay to hold me over. That's it.

We are losing the visibility battle here. Local Democrats are increasingly frustrated. Billboard is a great option. Any advice or help would be much appreciated.

Biden-Harris signs are all over the place. Very, very few Trump-Pence. Our congressional race is a toss up, and Dems are making inroads into city government. It isn’t really a slam-dunk for the GOP here anymore.

Hopeful and ecouraging signs.

It's Trump supporters who get nutty over signs and flags. I swear I hear about Democrats not having enough yard signs every four years.

Moore went on and on about Biden not having any ground game in Michigan, ignoring black voters and only talking to whites, third party voters are increasing, that Biden has to give voters a reason to vote for him.

Predicting a Trump win again. For all the wrong reasons as last time.

M37 thats great. West Michigan is abysmal. My street is blue so would be ok. My place in other state is very blue. When i go back and forth i can see it may be an issue keeping tabs on your sign there.

There are these awful yard signs derogatory about the governor. She did the same restrictions, on the same dates, as the governor here (who is R) yet no insulting signs here for him. Just shake my head at the unfortunate redneck-ness.

I had a sign thief way back, he even ran over one I put up. So I did this: I made wood frames for the signs and painted them black. Then I stapled the signs onto to the frames. Next, I put them in the ground. Then the fun part - I got some roof repair tar and painted the frame very thickly with it. That stuff is near impossible to get off of your hands and clothing, and it transfers really well to whatever you touch. Like car door handles, steering wheels. And it stinks for days. All it took was one sign - I came out in the morning and the sign was laying on the grass and I could see the areas where the tar came off the sign onto somebody's hands. Smears of tar on my grass leading to where he stopped his vehicle. That afternoon I went for a walk and saw a neighbor's truck with tar on the door handle.

Now, I would get a motion detector camera and publish pix of sign thieves, as well as use the tar defense.
