USPS "Informed Delivery"

Just my own experience regarding the Post Office:

Earlier this year I signed up for the "Informed Delivery" service offered by the Post Office. You get an e-mail and pictures of mail that you can expect to receive that day. Very nice service since I need to travel 1 block to get to my mail box (a "community drop-off" that many homes must use. Every house has its own box with a key) and if there's nothing "urgent" or important I'll just put off going for the day.

When I first signed on I could count on the e-mail notice daily NO LATER than 8 AM.

However, since our new "only the best" postal guru was appointed by BunkerBoy, there is no consistency regarding the notice; sometimes by 8, sometimes after 9, and a few times not at all.

Now I know this is not anything major - I don't depend on any checks in the mail nor medication or legal material that needs immediate attention. However, IT IS SLOWER - which, of course, we were told would not happen.

GET OUT THE VOTE - they've gotta' go!!!!!

Used to be always by 8 AM. Now it varies wildly. I have received it at 3 or 4 PM or not at all.

Our mail has changed to we never know when the mail will arrive! Not blaming the mail person though. Just seems like our mail has completely changed! Lived at this address 24 years, and THIS year it's all changed!

It all started with DeJoy's obvious mention to cripple the PO.

I've been using this service for over a year, and it was pretty consistent. In the last few weeks, I've had the same experience as you. Email arrives late in the day or not at all, and there's less accuracy in terms of what's scanned and what actually appears in my mail box.

are on an "alternate" route, so we don't have a regular postman. Our kiosk-style boxes get delivered to last but before 5PM if the post office has a driver for the route that day. Despite Informed Delivery, we've had missing time-sensitive 1st class mail, sometimes mis-delivered to a neighbor's box but also sometimes scanned and no-show for up to 3 wks after notifying the Postmaster, mail for ex-residents up to 4 iterations of tenants back, no-mail Mondays (not even advertising) and package delivery location confusion, tracked as delivered but where is it - box, large box, office (where they dump it when they run out of time, past 3-5PM).

TIP: Never just blow away those emal scan notifications - you won't be able to report the missing electronically hence a trip to the PO (before you go, take a pic or print of the scan in question),

I just rec'd an Etsy message from an international vendor that claims there's a big mess and backlog at the US Customs. I had selected ground shipping, and the message said I needed to provide a phone number for FEDEX - extortion to change shipping to expedited??? I didn't respond ASAP but on the 2nd day, it did receive a FEDEX priority (ground?) tracking #. Maybe the relatively inexpensive Xmas gift is on it's way into the void of Postmaster General's NoJoy's chaos! Guess we will see if and when it arrives from Istanbul, Turkey.

You can see the same info on the USPS site, if you have an account there. I haven't checked to see if it shows up on time there.

I already only checked my box every other week and this makes it easier to decide what day I will stop to get mail while driving in

Most days I still get the email prior to 8AM, but some days I get none, which usually means I don't get an mail that day. Some days the email doesn't arrive until after 3PM.

No more pictures either, well, for at least the last 2 weeks.

Sad that this is happening, the sickness of doing this during the election is just inexcusable.

Now, pretty much between 8 and 8:15, and sometimes a bit later. One at 3:45--but this is for a PO Box, so maybe that's when the truck arrived.

The one for my house didn't have any images, but it did have a tracking number, and a package I really wanted showed up ahead of schedule.

That's what's happening for me. But I'm still going to drop my ballot off in the heavy, well-secured, iron drop box that I always do. And I get texts to let me know they've got it in hand.
