If we are looking to fix all of the problems with the Republican power grabs from the last 20 years, getting rid of the fillibuster, adding Puerto Rico and DC as states, stacking the courts are all ideas I have heard thrown around. Those are all good ideas but one I haven't heard anyone mention is expanding the size of the House of Representatives. Like the Supreme Court, there is no set number of House seats. It has been close to 100 years since the House increased the number of members, which it can do at any time. One big issue is Republican gerrymandering. So why not combat that by expanding the size of the House as well?

(19,264 posts)A capped house favors Republicans. Each state is guaranteed one rep by the Constitution. Larger states are short changed with a capped house. Currently California has 53 reps under the Wyoming rule it would have 68.
If the Democrats are delivered a strong mandate by controlling the Senate, House, and Presidency that is the will of the people for them to enact some significant changes. If people give you power ... USE IT!

Plus, even Red states like Texas would benefit from increased representation in congress.

579K vs 624K.
ND & SD together aren't even 1.5 million.

(32,983 posts)When the Dems had full control of the Executive and Legislative Branches in those magical years of 2009 & 2010, we spent a full year debating the ACA, and none of this was on the table. And as a result of giving health care to millions, one by one we lost control of the House.
