https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/22/politics/amy-coney-barrett-trump-supreme-court/index.htmlJudge Amy Coney Barrett has emerged as President Donald Trump's overwhelming favorite to replace the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, according to several people familiar with the deliberations, who say the President's view was solidified during a lengthy meeting at the White House on Monday....
"A source familiar with Trump's private conversations told CNN that one of his confidants on this issue told him that this pick is so important to not only his legacy but his re-election bid that she will effectively "be your new running mate." "

That's why he's trying to get Biden to announce who his pick would be... so he can try to make the election about comparing the two.

(5,443 posts)2. That's sounds about right
but he isn't realizing that there is less reason for GOP evangelicals to vote if they already get the Supreme Court majority they've been salivating over for years.

Plus... there's always the Thomas and Breyer seats that could come up in the next four years.
There was an opinion piece this morning saying that Biden should name Stacey Abrams as his choice. If that were to happen, Trump might decide to make the whole race about that.

(21,646 posts)4. Lagoa may or may not have gathered him more Latino votes but his evangelical
and racist base may not get excited over a Cuban American woman.
No matter how conservative RW her slant, she may not be very well received by "his people
