There is an apocryphal story of two wolves.

Sometimes told as two dogs it's origins aren't really known. It's been attributed to the Hopi, to a Monk who studied among the People and even to Billy Graham who used it in a 1978 sermon though I've traced it to the hippy days of 1965. It makes no difference. It is a moral lesson we should absorb and consider.

It goes like this; An old man is speaking to his young grandchild about life and our place in it. He tells the child that there are two wolves in all of us. A good wolf that protects, nurtures and is kind and an evil wolf that snaps and bites, snarling at any who come near. These two wolves constantly fight to be the one that we hear to make us like them.

The child asks, “Which wolf will win?”

The old man answers, “The one you feed.”

It's easy to look at the Karens and the Trumpanzes and feel superior. To dismiss those who disagree with us and even mock them; the mask-less Covidiots, the angry fearful who act out. The fact that we give them such names is telling. Think about which wolf you are listening to.

We all want the same things; health, prosperity, peace and safety. We only disagree on how to achieve these things. Should any of us have the opportunity to talk to those we disagree with begin with that: we all want what is best for us, our loved ones and our country. Let us begin there and talk about why we disagree about how to get those things. Listen as well as speak. Understand as well as explain. Disagree but part peacefully. Your words will linger as will theirs.

Above all be careful which wolf you feed.

beautiful sentiment, beautiful tale. It has been my experience that discussion with those in my orbit, even family, is futile for one major reason.

Our realities are not the same. They get information from BlazeTV, Breitbart, OANN, and worse. If it is not noted at those sources, then it doesn't exist, and the conversation ends for me. I had one recently say, "I don't even know who Jared Kushner is."

My option of last resort, and the one I have used on ~20 "friends", is to disconnect 100%. Sad times.

Me.

Me? I’m tired of trying to be understanding only to be stabbed in the back every time I turn away.

The entire Supreme Court affair here should inform you that you are in error, they DON’T want the same things that we do. That’s a lie.

with hatred and a belief that because they believe it, it therefore cannot be anything other than true. Hard nut to crack.
