It just seems inevitable.

(16,254 posts)Unbelievable. The presser is on MSNBC now. Announcements were made earlier.

(1,725 posts)... because THIS bullsh*t indictment by trump's convention pet was - I would bet my life - intentional just to instigate violent protests of rage. INTENTIONAL with the purpose of making people out of their minds enraged - which I am RIGHT NOW.
Please please please try to control it, people, because trump wants more vandalism, looting, and burning - and, yes, those f*cking PB racist lunatics are just waiting to encourage it, start it themselves, and cheer any angry protestors on, specifically to affect the polls.

(32,626 posts)it's not okay to protest because outsiders will come in and raise hell. The cops will only attack the protesters, the mayhem makers are free to do as they wish..even kill people. No, cops get away with cold-blooded murder, and the wrongs that plague our society should be allowed, because of what cause?

(5,541 posts)destruction of uninvolved and innocent people's property is not acceptable. period. end of story.
It also completely undermines peaceful efforts to apply pressure.
given the political situation and the pending election, this becomes much bigger than just racial justice and BLM. burning and looting hurts the credibility of the movement and all who support it.

(32,626 posts)And, as far as I know, the cause of the BLM movement is the epitome of freedom, justice, and democracy. It's almost like those who support BLM have no right to seek justice because of those who wish to sully dissent. I do hope that people can get more organized, and more aware, to combat outside agents, but blaming BLM for the crimes of which white supremacists have been charged and found guilty is the lowest. There is no time that will be the right time. People complain about their traffic patterns being messed up, because a group of people are protesting another murder, of another black person, by the hands of another cop, in another city. How dare they block my drive to work, is the response. Ah...it doesn't matter anyway...well, property does.

What are we going to wait for? Justice?

(3,858 posts)It's rare to see a black person break windows or start fires during these live streamed riots.
It's usually an obviously white person.
But, I've seen this scenario a number of times ... a white person breaks the window of a department store, and then black and white people go on a gleeful looting spree.

(32,626 posts)before people didn't see they were being used. The amount of people flooding in from out of state, and getting arrested for starting fires, vandalism, etc, was surprising. I forget which state it was, probably MO, but the cops said the violence was coordinated, so it all happened at once in various parts of the city. There's no way they could control it. Meanwhile, Russia has been organizing different events for the Republicans on social media since 2016. But there's nothing like the possibility of jailing, killing, or just effing with black people to get the white supremacists all juiced up.

(32,626 posts)are there video's, or photo's by protesters, or reporters? Arrest records? Sometimes those can change perception a lot.

(13,420 posts)I am terribly afraid of people getting killed right now. I see footage already of armed cosplayers walking around like they are strolling up to a barn dance or something, and they are walking up to a place full of people feeling oppressed--who were already hurting prior to this Grand Jury finding. It bodes ill, IMO. Yes, I understand that some people here are concerned about the optics of it all in the context of an election, but WTF is wrong here at DU that the loss of life isn't a higher priority?
SMH.
