I've been avoiding Facebook almost 100% for months, but have had to go back on a few times lately to get news concerning the death of a family member. Yes, texting or calling is always an option, but it just worked out this way.
Anyway, I was just on Facebook and (I admit) couldn't stop myself from doing a little scrolling. And it started me thinking: I am SO LUCKY in that all my friends and all my news are 100% liberal. I don't get ANY fake news whatsoever. So by having avoided interacting with Facebook's algorithm, and not doing the liking and the commenting and the sharing, have I actually been making Facebook more conservative, in my own teeny tiny way?
Should liberals spend MORE time interacting with Facebook? I know each individual makes only a tiny difference, whether we avoid it on principle or interact with it for fun (or on principle), but I just was wondering what other people think.

Im OK with that as long as Biden and Democrats can run ads saying its BS. Put Kornacki on to point out the millions of votes outstanding and how they likely lean.

(9,352 posts)I weeded out all the unnecessary people.
The only right wing stuff I get is from posts showing how horrible they are.
Its also a way to stay in touch with family far away.

(13,776 posts)I was feeling kind of pleased with myself for dropping Facebook almost entirely, but I realized today that my absence, however tiny, makes Facebook just that much more conservative-leaning. Besides, I use an adblocker, and would NEVER click on a post from anybody I don't know personally, so I assume the amount of money Facebook makes from me is barely enough copper to rub together.
I'd still love to hear people's reasons pro or con. I miss it, but having gone almost entirely cold turkey I'm perfectly able to stay away. I loathe Mark Zuckerberg so profoundly, which is why it wasn't that hard to do, but I just started to wonder: with blue voters being much likelier to boycott it than red voters, maybe boycotting is just letting the bad guys take it over without a fight.

Facebook will let Trump run ads prematurely claiming victory on election night.
So dangerous.

Facebook banned political ads a week before the election, but its the period after the election that it should be worried about. Heres why.

(35,324 posts)of Democrat posts though. If I get a friend request I look at their posts if I see they do Trump supporter stuff I don't friend them.

I never see RW stuff unless it's in comments to various articles that pop up along with the liberal comments
