The howls of outrage coming from the NRA and its members aren't intelligible, if existent at all.
Considering that:
1. Breonna Taylor was in the sanctuary of her home, sleeping in her bed, when she was shot to death.
2. Her boyfriend had a legally registered gun,
3. Which he used in defense of himself and Breonna Taylor during a home invasion.
4. The warrant was incorrectly drafted and therefore was illegitimate when a magistrate/judge approved it. Therefore, the police had no right to enter her apartment except by a full warrant or by consent.
5. If anything else, a no-knock warrant should be checked, checked, and checked for accuracy, especially an address and especially where the police will expect to use deadly force against the inhabitants.
All the Second Amendment gun-lovers, you claim you possess as many guns as you can afford, all loaded with ammo, because you feel you can't trust the Police to protect you. And therefore, you must protect yourself and your family.
So here's the question, suppose it was YOUR bedroom with you and your spouse sleeping and the police burst into your room and as you were sleeping, you act on reflex: you fire your weapon to protect yourself and your spouse. And the police kill your spouse during that shoot-out. Should any or all of the police at the scene be charged with criminal felonies? That's it. That's my question.
Don't equivocate. Don't parse. Don't split hairs. No exceptions to the rules. Just answer the question please.

(33,310 posts)The LPD contend they announced themselves. BF said he didn't hear anything, just the door being broken down. Several neighbors say they didn't hear anything, but one did?
I guess if the Po SAY they identified themselves, you can't shoot back, particularly while Black.

Brett Hankison, a detective at the time, fired into the sliding glass patio door and window of Ms. Taylors apartment, both of which were covered with blinds, in violation of a department policy that requires officers to have a line of sight.
