Allegheny County delivers nearly 70,000 mail-in ballots to post office

Thousands of voters in Allegheny County who have applied to vote by mail ahead of this November’s election will receive their ballots soon.

As of Thursday evening, the county had delivered two large batches of mail-in and absentee ballots — about 70,000 in total — to the post office, its elections division announced.

Those ballots are now en route to voters whose applications were approved. So far, 314,188 voters have been cleared to vote by mail — a tally that includes about 228,300 registered Democrats and 58,600 Republicans.

There is still plenty of time to apply to vote by mail. Applications must be received by the county elections division by 5 p.m. on Oct. 27, and interested voters can go to www.votespa.com/ApplyMailBallot for more information.

Allegheny County continues to process applications that are coming in, the division says — online applications, on the same day, and paper applications “with additional staff and shifts.”
