Time to start looking at state ballot proposals to ensure abortion rights.

I know in Michigan I’m ready to help with one. If Barrett is the nominee, Roe v Wade’s days are numbered.

I am looking forward to voting on just such a proposal in MI in 2022.

Absolutely. I think that would be quite successful. David__77 Sep 2020 #1

They could be tailored for the jurisdiction. In Mississippi it could be different from in Montana, for instance (I'm guessing in Montana a more sweeping provision could be enacted).

With the addition of another far-right Roman Catholic to the bench, I'm predicting that they not only overturn Roe, but declare in their decision that, since "natural law" makes it self-evident that human life begins at the moment of conception, every single homicide law already on the books, state or federal, automatically applies to "the unborn." It would be binding precedent that would outlaw abortion everywhere, and there would be no way to overturn it except by constitutional amendment (which, obviously, would be virtually impossible to pass). Such a decision would also ban all oral contraceptives, IUDs, and "Plan B" instantaneously. It would be the traditionalist Roman Catholic wet-dream.
