Liz Warren: "This sleazy Supreme Court double-dealing is last gasp of corrupt Republican leadership"

This sleazy Supreme Court double-dealing is the last gasp of a corrupt Republican leadership, numb to its own hypocrisy. The last gasp of a billionaire-fueled party that's undemocratically over-represented and desperately clinging to power in order to impose its extremist agenda.

A Supreme Court justice would have an 18-year term.

I've heard that suggestion circulating at present. That would be almost a generation. PLENTY of time to make rulings and not overstay your welcome and your relevance.

4. The Senate was not intended to be like the House of Representatives.

The Founders designed two bodies of Congress to consider laws and policies distinctly from each other.

The House was expected to be "The People's House," whereby everything from whims to vociferous debates would occur. Passion. Emotion. Arguments.

By contrast, the Senate was supposed to be the "deliberative body," whereby issues would be detached from emotion and petty arguments, more developed logic, a kind of gentlemen's club compared to the House. More bipartisan pairings between the parties.

It started in 1994 with Newt Gingrich would changed the House into Us-and-Them and this poisonous attitude has taken over the Senate. And with such divisiveness has come corruption. Corruption that has incrementally changed one chamber from that of a democracy into an oligarchy.

We were all counting on the USSC to remain sacrosanct, to remain free of the divisiveness and corruption, as the Executive and the Legislative branches have both been corrupted.

We are now hoping that the Democrats in the Senate have the guile and will to change the tide.

A republican is never elected again, and thier party is utterly destroyed. And no other party picks up thier evil agenda again.
And no more narcissist, authoritarian or sociopath is put in power again.

and it's always from a far right nexus of religious or economic power, or an unholy alliance of both. There are no historical exceptions.

The only question is what we're going to do about it if it happens.

I intend to be disobedient. I dunno about you.

She is right. They are trying to scorch the earth as they get driven out. They are being driven out.

We have to be strong and innovative. We are not helpless children. Governments change all the time. Constitutions are amended. Courts are changed.

You’re seeing a gasp and grasp as they go down. If they thought they’d win this wouldn’t be forced through so hard and fast.

It SUCKS. But it’s not forever.

Of non-stop chaos and is unlike any period in our history. Yes, 2020 has some of the same elements of 1968 but our government could at least function. It ushered in Nixon, whom Trump is emulating. But, as hard as it is to believe, Nixon was a better person than Trump and he was also smarter - but a crook none the less. Also, nobody thought for a moment that America was on the verge of imploding and that can't be said about our current situation.

LBJ was getting the rosy scenario from the likes of Westmorland and McNamara and plowed ahead, making the mistake of doubling down. By 1968 he was a beaten man and the vacuum of leadership empowered some crazy events. Trump is different as he can't be beaten down because he is in denial and blames everybody else for his blunders. And he is the one making up the rosy scenario this time so he can't blame it on anyone else because he is micro managing the who operation. Whether it is destroying USPS, bungling the economy or morbidly sending people to their death in a pandemic, Trump cannot blame anybody else, though he attempts to escape responsibility. Because of all of this the destiny of America is on the ballot November 3rd. America better not get it wrong this time.
