I suspect the real motivation for rushing through his appointment, has to do with his taxes more than a potential contested election.

The Supreme Court already ruled in July that Trump does not have universal immunity, and sent the case back to the lower Courts for disposition.

Actually, it was a surprising 7-2, with Gorsuch and Kavanaugh joining Roberts and the liberals.

I think it's one and the same. He needs a Fascist SC to keep him in office since once out, he's going to prison. His taxes are ancillary at this point.
