MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Some graduates of Rhodes College disagree with Amy Coney Barretts nomination to the Supreme Court and have started a fast growing Facebook group in opposition.
The Facebook group is named Rhodes Alumni Against ACBs nomination.
The group founders say, in their view, Barretts legal opinions go against the schools values and hundreds of other alumni have agreed.
Rhodes College alumni Rob Marus and Morgan Breslin say they believe the legal opinions expressed by Supreme Court nominee and Rhodes College graduate Amy Coney Barrett, such as opposition to the Affordable Care Act and abortion, would be dangerous in a conservative majority on the Supreme Court.

(6,818 posts)It could go down the tubes if it's nibbled at a bit here and there, like interpreting it as an "option".
Short-sighted people would "opt" out of the withholding from their income with encouragement from their employers. They would whole heartedly opt out if they had a choice.
Abortion is their carrot, the ACA is their low-hanging fruit. No one can live well eating from their garden.

(2,065 posts)Rhodes College was still called Southwestern at Memphis when I went there - that was before they changed their name. I was a music major, who majored in voice, but oddly enough, I gave my senior recital on the flute. I still have fond memories of the place. I was absolutely shocked when I watched a CNN video of Barrett's nomination ceremony last night and said YIKES - she also went to Rhodes College!!!

(16,844 posts)We're the same age, so I guess he graduated in 1991. He's always been a good, liberal guy, certainly nothing like Barrett. I wonder if she was like she is now back then. She would have been out of place at Rhodes, I think.
