Early Voting Is Setting Records!

And who do you suppose those voters are, in terms of their politics? My wife and I dropped our ballots in an official ballot bag at our local library in St. Paul, MN last Thursday. We were the first people in the door when the library opened. As we were leaving, we saw several other people carrying their ballots and entering the library. Two were naturalized Somali immigrants. Two were black. Two were Hmong. My wife and I are old white people. I would be exceedingly surprised if any of those other six voters were Republicans, given my knowledge of the area.

We're on our way to victory!

Over 860,000 Americans Have Already Voted, Compared to Fewer Than 10,000 by This Point in 2016

More than 860,000 Americans have already cast their vote in the 2020 election—a number much higher than the reported 9,525 votes that were returned at this point in 2016.

At least 866,734 people have voted in this year's election as of September 26, according to the U.S. Elections Project, which is run by University of Florida political science professor Michael McDonald. The number is based on 25 states whose early voting data is available, meaning it does not convey the entire picture.

"These states are those where I have current data on mail ballot activity," McDonald wrote in a blog post Saturday morning. "More states will be added as state reports become available."

In making my Biden Harris calls, I’m hearing from many African American voters that they will walk their ballot to the supervisor of elections to make sure nothing happens to it. This is great news for all of us.

In each of them an on-duty library clerk is an election judge. They are looking at the signed ballot envelopes to check whether they are properly filled-out and signed before directing the voters to drop them in the locked ballot bag slot. Each designated library also has a person at a table outside of the entry door to direct voters and to provide masks if necessary. There is also hand sanitizer on the the table, and everyone is asked to sanitize their hands going in and coming out.

Ballots are picked up each day for processing by an election official, too.

Minnesota knows how to do elections.

I think you're right, too, about voters of color and others who might have voted in smaller numbers in the past showing up to hand in their completed ballots. People are voting now, and not waiting until election day. It's that important.

He's a data genius. His work on the 2016 election for Florida convinced me Hillary won Florida. Her banked votes before election day should have been insurmountable and yet here we are. Historically GOP voters have always used Mail Ballots more than Dems. I don't believe hoards of Republicans voters showed up on election day in Florida.
