To put Trump's tax bill in 2016 in perspective

If you were a single, child free person in 2016 and earned $10,350 (personal exemption plus standard deduction) + $7500 (taxed at 10%) = $17850 you paid the same amount as he did. That is $8.92 an hour.

I will say I find that hard to believe. I think the standard deduction is about 12k now so you should pay little to no taxes if you make 12k.
