of Europe was wiped out - if you didn't get it yourself, your neighbor or your relative did and it was everywhere. Pretty hard to call that a hoax. And they didn't have the Internet where people could make shit up and get away with it.

Even kings and queens and priests got the plague. Nobody knew how to stop it, but at least they weren't pretending they did and using it as a political tool.

as was pointed out above. But they had quarantines, restrictions on movement, and people were afraid to let their children outside. It was much less contagious than Covid-19.

In the Middle Ages after a plague they would celebrate with wine and orgies, does anybody know if anything like that is planned when this one ends? (Asking for a friend)
