"I am the only President on record to give up my yearly $400,000 plus Presidential Salary!"

That is from a fresh Thrump tweet. Has this alleged practice been thoroughly investigated? I don't think he'd give up a $1 bill. Why should anyone else believe this?

These are talking points he's disseminating to his flock. They will take it at face value, run with it and it will shade media coverage. The end result? The needle will not move. It's already is shading coverage. I wouldn't give two shits about an Orange tweet unless I heard it being broadcast.

It was $100,000 a year following Truman's first election in 1948 (he was paid $75,000 per year while finishing FDR's 4th term), increased to $200,000 a year starting with Nixon's first term, and then again to $400,000 with George W Bush's first term.

When President Kennedy took office in 1961, he was a very wealthy man. His family’s worth was around $1 billion at the time, and he himself had a multimillion-dollar trust fund. He certainly didn’t need the presidential salary ($100,000 annually with a $50,000 expense account, at the time) to get by. So, he donated it all to charity instead.

.....Also, if you look at the extraordinary assets owned by me, which the Fake News hasn’t, I am extremely under leveraged - I have very little debt compared to the value of assets. Much of this information is already on file, but I have long said that I may release....

.....Financial Statements, from the time I announced I was going to run for President, showing all properties, assets and debts. It is a very IMPRESSIVE Statement, and also shows that I am the only President on record to give up my yearly $400,000 plus Presidential Salary!

What he is saying is that having a tax liability, which you then offset by fraudulent declarations, counts as paying that tax liability.

If you owe someone twenty dollars, and insist they give you nineteen dollars and give them back one, you have not paid the debt. You have just chiseled and weaseled.

...in 2016 that they had assets of $10.2 billion and LTD of $5.4 billion.
A D/E ratio of 1.125 is not "extremely underleveraged."
And 2 years ago, Moody's reassessed creditworthiness, and concluded the assets were overvalued by 20%, and the debt was at least $1.2 billion higher than claimed.
This puts us at $8 billion in assets and $6.6 billion in leverage.
This is a D/E of 4.7.
That is hitting the highly over leveraged range.
Once again, he's lying.

Obama gave the $1.4M Nobel prize money to charity so if Trump gave his salary it would be a bit more than the nobel prize alone. And Obama gave hundreds of thousands more each year. So, no, Obama didn't donate his salary but he did donate about the same amount.
