Lets think of the implications of a man who owes $1B to parties unknown and whose supposed empire is hotels and leisure in the middle of a pandemic. So OF COURSE he wouldnt want to shut down the economy.
When the Southern District of New York is done with him, they need to ship him to La Hague to answer for crimes against humanity.
Just a thought.

(86,515 posts)At least since he started putting children in cages. On day one, in the stack of EOs and declarations and such, there should be a resolution to join the ICC and let The Hague have him and all of his cabinet.

(11,447 posts)There are many things he could go to prison for life for. It looked to me like he fired most of the group trying to check on him and his people. Even after it was proven what his senior adviser did with Russia he kept saying to Comey he was a good guy who did nothing wrong.

(6,583 posts)I remember GW Bush refusing to join, & it was obvious why.
I found this on the Human Rights Watch web site:
Is the US a member of the ICC?
The US is not a state party to the Rome Statute. The US participated in the negotiations that led to the creation of the court. However, in 1998 the US was one of only seven countries along with China, Iraq, Israel, Libya, Qatar, and Yemen that voted against the Rome Statute. US President Bill Clinton signed the Rome Statute in 2000 but did not submit the treaty to the Senate for ratification. In 2002, President George W. Bush effectively unsigned the treaty, sending a note to the United Nations secretary-general that the US no longer intended to ratify the treaty and that it did not have any obligations toward it.

(21,421 posts)refused to acknowledge the ICC as having legitimate jurisdiction over US citizens.
So, that means we don't cooperate on extraditing US citizens for trial at the Hague. However, if Trump were arrested while abroad, would we or should we fight it on his behalf?
So it's up to us here in the US to make sure he is charged and tried here for his crimes against humanity regarding the concentration camps and the pandemic deaths.
