Baking soda and white vinegar is a safer, more environmentally-friendly (and cheaper) bet. Borax also does a good job, and is environmentally safe, as well.

Most people have no idea what they are, so they are easier to find. Just use an old bleach bottle, drop in a tablet or two,let it sit overnight ,voila bleach.

And you can make it stronger if you need to by adding Xtra tabs.

1 jar of bleach tablets will make like 6 months worth of standard strength bleach.

I prefer them to premade bleach. And they cost less. Get mine at Walmart.

That's what I did last time when everything was limited and being price-gouged on Amazon and Walmart.

I just reordered toilet paper and c-fold towels from them and they were almost $10 cheaper this go round, probably because restaurants aren't ordering as much.

Far too many times I've sent my husband to get something that the store's online inventory showed being in stock. Not only could he not find it, often there is no space on the shelf or display for the thing.

Just today one of the guys doing trim work in the house had a problem - he'd checked Lowes for a specific color of trim and they showed 17 in stock. He got there and none were in the slot. The box in the overhead storage that was supposed to be full was completely empty. He finally found a few pieces in odd places in the molding section. His boss had to drive up to Thomasville to get enough to finish the job.

I'd call in to check the inventory, but the local Lowes never answers their phones. Last time I ordered online, my husband got there, waited almost an hour in the parking lot for curbside pickup, went in and had to pull the order himself. At least that time they did have it, just not as described and no one to help him get it out.

I was at Costco last week and went to grab some toilet paper. One of the workers called out “here’s a box of disinfectant wipes” and set it on the stack of toilet paper. No one else reached for it (there were only a couple of folks there) so I grabbed it.

I’ve given out all but one of the inside packets, which I kept for myself.

You have to check all the time, but they do get wipes and disinfectant spray from time to time. You almost have to make it part of your daily routine as it gets bought out quickly and you also have to get a delivery time.

It might be good to rationally stock up on some things for the next several months. No need to hoard, but take care of yourself and get what you think you will need now. I am hoping that, beginning January 3, 2021 and in full force at 12 noon ET on January 20, 2021, things will IMMEDIATELY take a turn for the better.

Thank you, Trump: you have made the topic of our conversation getting toilet cleaner, wipes and spray. You suck beyond anything that has ever sucked before in the universe.

That seems an odd item to be in short supply, too.
Most of the companies have multiple formulas that would fit the description on the label.
No one raw material would be a barrier to normal production.
And, the consumer product and active ingredient companies in the US are in full production with good cash flow and strong stock performance.
I wonder if there are new purchasing negotiations going on, so inventories are being kept down in distribution until new terms are finalized. Saw that once in my career, but it was a long while back.

Don't know that they were running that product line each time, but I did have conversations about the right species to create emulsions with the viscosity they desired.
And, ways to modulate viscosity for hitting the target every time. I couldn't advise without knowing formulas, so I got that information.
Pretty simple and LOADED with ingredients that not only easy to get, but are made by manufacturers with 10-25% excess capacity.
Might also, just be a temporary disruption caused by driver shortages.
The trucking industry is sucking air for drivers. They have been for a few years.

I pour a capful of Mr. Clean antibacterial cleaner in the bowl (it's a small cap and it's plenty of cleaner for the toilet). I scrub it all around including under the rim with the toilet bowl brush. I let it sit for about 20 minutes or so, come back and scrub it again and flush. I love the smell of both Citrus & Light and Summer Citrus Mr. Clean scents.

Spray some white vinegar on the sides of the bowl. Let it sit for a few minutes. sprinkle on some baking soda and scrub with the brush, and then flush it. You can also use borax in place of the baking soda if your bowl is really soiled. You can find "cleaning" vinegar at the dollar store. A buck for a half a gallon. It beats the toxic shit in the commercial cleaners.

but there were only a handful left. A few generic antiseptic wipes are finally appearing at an inflated price, but you have to buy stuff when you see it. My biggest concern this week shopping were the bare shelves where canned goods should be. One day you can find kidney beans and the next day you can't. I wondered if hoarding was going on again.
