I asked the question that resulted in Trump making that infamous “Russia if you’re listening” comment. The reporters at the news conference didn’t laugh. And Trump didn’t appear to be joking.

This is one of Trump’s most egregious repeat attempts to rewrite a reality we saw on camera.
He keeps saying he did his “Russia, if you’re listening” request at a rally or some such event and everyone cracked up along with him. In fact he was at a silent press conference.
