my wife and I are watching The Vow on HBO, a horrifying account of the NXIVM cult. Earlier this year, we read the book by the woman who left the Jehovah's Witnesses. Both extremely disturbing and eye opening.

It is rare for cult members to leave. Leaving requires hard self reflection and realizing they've been had. It can mean ostracization.

I just don't see it happening. We have to vote in numbers to utterly overwhelm them.

That's basically what defines them politically at an EMOTIONAL level, so facts and even their past mistakes will largely be ignored to help maintain their core identity.
