they worried that worse (for them) than donnie losing the general election in 2016 would be him winning and becoming president and then completely trashing the republican "brand".

and yet, aside from a few "never trumpers", republicans all lined up not only to vote for him and support him, but even to cancel primaries in 2020 in order to try to give him even more time in office.

if many republicans in congress lose, they have themselves to blame. if ever there was a time to be "mavericky" and to at least occasionally stand up to a president, it's when the president was dragging you down politically. and yet, not a spine among them.
