He was chosen to host the prestigious meet the press. He made it into a failure. They pulled him from the 5pm prime time.
Todd was dubbed as the "political director" for MSNBC and would head panels on debate and election nights. Lately he has been gone from that as well. Rachel Maddow, Joy Reed, Nicole Wallace and Brian Williams are now the main people for that.

I would not be surprised if the next step is being shown the door.
