BTW, Rush, the single term for strategy is 'stratagem'. One has strategy; one has a stratagem.

says the plural of strategy is strategies which suggests to me it's not already considered plural itself.

Certainly the use of stratagem is almost non-existent. Having spent two decades in the military, where the word is used ubiquitously, stratagem is a word I knew existed but never heard used.

Grammarist says this:

"Stratagem and strategy are sometimes interchangeable, but they are usually not synonyms. The more common strategy is broader. Its main definitions are (1) a plan of action intended to accomplish a specific goal, and (2) the art or skill of using plans or stratagems, especially in war. Stratagem is sometimes synonymous with strategy in military contexts, but its primary definition is a clever scheme for achieving an objective, often by deceiving an enemy. So while strategy can denote any plan of action, stratagem usually implies subterfuge or unconventional tactics."

So it isn't about singular or plural, it's whether you think this was simply a plan of action intended to accomplish a specific goal (like say keeping an actual debate from happening or flustering Biden to a gaffe), or you think it was subterfuge (not really, pretty clear what he was doing) or an unconventional tactic (certainly was).

Trump's unhinged ranting was exactly why he performed so poorly last night. Biden would be incredibly lucky if Trump pulled the same stunt in the next two debates.

Cutting Trump's mic is doing Trump a favor - not Biden and not the American people who deserve to see and hear the real Trump. He is unhinged.
