during debate I noticed DU was not secure

in the URL address field. I was logged in following the unofficial debate threads in General Discussion.

I just changed my DU password, just for added security, and to protect DU

We do not want to lose this site for any length of time as we did November 2016!

I notice as I type this, there is no warning about security in the URL field.

I don't know if it was my computer. I had NBC.com running at the same time I have other window tabs open and they are all secure.

I have been changing my password every once in awhile, just for the security of it. I preiodically change other passwords, too.

Where I bank, which a a small independent, they make you change the pw every 3 months. I am impressed with the level of security, and kind of wish other places I use did the same.

warns me whenever I attempt to access a site that is NOT secured. The first thing I thought was "HERE WE GO AGAIN...THOSE IGNORANT IDIOTS ARE GOING TO TAKE THE SITE DOWN AGAIN LIKE THEY DID IN 2016..." Has there been anything done to secure DU against such an attack AGAIN? Are we getting ready or ALREADY prepared to avoid that nonsense again? 'Cuz ain't nobody got time for that...AGAIN!

DU system. That was part of the reason it was down so long.

Even though I have faith in the DU administrators, I want to do my part in thwarting hackers.

GOOD LUCK, to ya because it appears that EVERY thing they've tried to stop his tossing out has been as successfully as a rubber crutch for a 1 legged man during a heatwave while standing on a landslide. GOOD F*^%&NG LUCK, TRAITORS!! May God bless us and WORK WITH US TO BLOW THESE MORONS OUT OF THE WATER in Re: THE ELECTIONS..Keeping my eyes on the prize...Take care and nice "tameetcha"!

account because I'd forgotten my password & couldn't restore it. I probably forgot it due to chemobrain while treating for "TERMINAL" stage 4B metastatic cervical cancer. My original username was Ecumenist but when I couldn't remember my password.. no matter how hard I tried.. So, alas & alack, The_Real_Ecumenist was born..With that said, "...RIGHT GLAD TAMEETCHA, friend.."

I heard they are a way to hack into a site. Sounds like you had a good reason to skip the internet for awhile. Glad you beat cancer

3. This happens when someone posts an image that is on a non-https site
Wed Sep 30, 2020, 06:25 PM
Sep 2020

All of DU's pages are, by themselves, considered secure (all our URLs start with "https" ). But because members post content from elsewhere on the Internet, sometimes they will hotlink an image from a site which has "http" instead of "https" at the start of its URL.

Your browser then flags the page as "partially secure" because of that hotlinked image, not because of anything on our servers.
