73 million watched the debate last night - down from 2016 but still remarkably high.

That's also more than watched the first Obama-Romney debate from 2012.

I, for one, am glad America turned into that shit-show. They needed to see it. They needed to see the type of contrast we witnessed between Biden and Trump.

On edit: it was the third most watched debate in history - behind 2016 and 1980.

but at the same time are tuning out until he is gone.

It helps that Biden is a known figure .

Like my SO. Insisted on watching last night out of some misplaced civic duty.

It broke my heart.

I haven't seen a face like that since my darling dimpled daughter saw the Killer Whale flip the cute baby Seal in the air and eat it in one bite on Animal Planet.

Saddest thing in the world.
