I'm only going to go as far back as 1932 to the current man in the White House.
Franklin Roosevelt
Harry Truman
John Kennedy
Lyndon Johnson
Jimmy Carter
Bill Clinton
Barack Obama
Me, I'm going FDR one, Clinton 2, and Kennedy 3.

(1,980 posts)They really are the giants of the 20th century presidency. That's not meant to insult the rest, but FDR and LBJ are on a level all their own.

(41,832 posts)be kinder to him than some here.
These threads remind me of Republicans pining for Reagan. It's kind of a useless exercise.

(20,600 posts)It has been one mediocrity after another really, with some being better than others of course. Maybe Kennedy or Johnson were the last really good ones.
Clinton was decent, but great, no way. I'm afraid that Obama has not shown much either, even with the recent positive actions he did. I think everyone knows how terrible Bush was.

(1,033 posts)For me it's
FDR
JFK
Clinton
LBJ (would've been higher if not for Vietnam)
Truman
Carter
I suspect Obama will be remembered well by historians.

(33,497 posts)for real accomplishments (legislation, etc) I would say FDR, LBJ & Obama
Yes, I'm aware of Vietnam and what that did to LBJ's legacy but I also don't discount such things as The Civil Rights Act of 1964, Voting Rights Act of 1965, Medicare, The War on Poverty and an array of Great Society legislation.
