and she wanted her husband to go further left and pursue certain issues more aggressively (according to the new book The Obamas)?
Sounds like she could have been a member of DU! LOL!

(14,400 posts)pretty weak work of fiction so I'm not going to hold any of it as even remotely true, even if it would be a welcome truth.

(16,646 posts)I'm always a bit suspicious of any oral history. Oral history which is someone telling you what someone else thought is even worse. An oral history that claims to know the intimate conversations between husband and wife, especially a couple like this, is down right unreliable.

"The book is about a relationship between two people whom the author has not spoken to in years. In fact, the author did not interview the Obamas for the book so the emotions and private moments described in the book, though often seemingly ascribed to the President and First Lady, reflect little more than the author's own thoughts."

(2,770 posts)who you mean by 'they'; the people who the book is about, or the people who insist it's factual?
I am always suspicious of books written about people who were not interviewed, especially by someone who is not in a position to 'know' what really goes on in a marriage, or in the WH, etc.
How does this author know what Michelle thought, what she and Barack discussed between themselves - or anything else for that matter?
