(63,221 posts)Very discouraging. I don't think we really need it right now. And it's always the usual suspects.

Good job, taking responsibility for yourself. We all need to do a better job of that now and again. Come back off and on to see if you can deal with things better. Trying to make others be what you want is rarely sucessful.

(28,834 posts)It's just excruciating waiting till fucking next week
to find out election results.
Here's some Shakespeare, from Henry IV:
Oh God! that one might read the book of fate, And see the revolution of the times Make mountains level, and the continent, Weary of solid firmness, melt itself Into the sea.

(53,012 posts)at the very worst, you don't know. Logic says to look at the polls compared to 2016. In that year, Trump's gains were among undecided voters. That is unlikely to be the case this year since most people know who Trump is.

(6,829 posts)Shut down all info streams and go dark like the OP.
I don't fault them. I'm just not doing that. I want to absorb every data point and analysis until the end
BainsBane
(53,012 posts)like polls, you should feel good about the results.

(63,221 posts)But I do see what you are talking about, and it makes me anxious as well. Whatever is going to happen is going to happen, but I don't really need to hear about negative poll numbers and other downer posts like that. What good does it do? Most of us have already voted. All it does is depress us and make us anxious.
What is the point of posting this shit? Seriously? Is there any benefit? It is not going to affect one thing here for the better. It's just a downer. I don't mind people who come on here to say that they are anxious or worried. I don't mind people talking about their feelings.
I am glad they have a place where they can come to vent. What I do mind is people who seem to delight in posting negative news clips and polling results when there is no possible positive result that can come of it. It's like they delight in bringing people down. And if people are observant, it is always the same people who seem to post these kinds of threads.

(737 posts)The constant "up and down" in the news, youtube, and even on DU. I decided that instead of watching the polls like the stock market I'm going to keep busy until Nov. 3rd. I was door knocking this afternoon for the MI Democratic Party. Most of the people that answered stated that they "already voted" for Biden. One lady opened the door and stated "He's going to win". I told her "i'm still nervous that's why I'm out her now!" I'm set to canvass for Biden the next 3 days. Nevertheless, once Election Day comes I can truly say "I've done all I can..."

(4,390 posts)Looks like everything Clinton won is locked up. Wisconsin is in the bag. Michigan is close. That leaves one more. Trump would need to run the board in Az, NC, FL, GA, and PA to win. Only PA seems to be in the power of the USSC to decide. This looks far better than it was supposed to look. I've seen us run the board on Senate cycles, but this is 5/5 he needs. Iowa and Texas aren't even the 5.
We're not living in an age of electoral blowouts, although I would be thrilled to see one. We're holding the line until our kids take the helm (I'm 50). A Dem Senate and President is a great step, and it's looking good for now.
