Body mistaken for Halloween prop sits on balcony for days, Los Angeles cops say

Neighbors thought the body slumped over a patio table on a third-floor apartment balcony in Marina del Rey, California, had to be part of a Halloween display.

“He looked fake,” said Austin Raishbrook, 33, The New York Times reported. “It looked like somebody had thrown a dummy over the back of a chair.”

So no one called 911 for four days.

“The body was in plain view of the entire apartment complex (and) they all didn’t do anything,” Raishbrook said, the Los Angeles Times reported. “It’s very strange. It did look unreal, to be honest.”

When someone notified authorities Oct. 15, police discovered the decomposing body of a 75-year-old man on the balcony, The Los Angeles Daily News reported.

Perhaps he figured that by doing it on his balcony, it wouldn't take until the odor of his rotting body inside would attract attention. But it still took four days. Sad.

Odd timing. If this happened 6 weeks ago, somebody probably would have dialed 911 immediately.
But, Halloween displays and all...

It was a 75 yr old man who apparently comitted suicide wonder what pushed him over that edge.

2020 has probably killed off more than just Corona cases... truly sad.

Hanging out of the back of a closed car trunk. I was walking to my car and almost got in without a second thought; however, I'm OCD enough to walk over and make sure it was fake. If I hadn't I would have worried about it for a while. It's hard being me sometimes. This is why I have to medicate.
