If one thing became clear as early voting ended Sunday in Volusia County, it is that voters are very engaged in the voting process in 2020.
Consider that in 2016 a total of 265,202 people voted in Volusia County. By the end of Saturday, 242,239 people had already voted by mail or early voting in person in the county. That's a figure that doesn't include Sunday's total, or the thousands of people who are expected to vote on Tuesday's Election Day.
In Flagler County, where early voting ended on Saturday, 64.4% of eligible voters have already cast a ballot.
"It's what we wanted," Volusia County Supervisor of Election Lisa Lewis said of the heavy turnout so far. "We wanted people to come out and vote. It's exciting."

(31,261 posts)The early voting indies, hopefully went heavily for Joe.
Joe doesnt need to win that county, all he need to do is cut into Trumps margin there. Florida has something like 67 counties total.

(131 posts)Anyway, I'm sure Biden is doing better in this county than Clinton did. At least there are many Republicans who feel comfortable voting Biden. Feel like this is going to be an amazing week! I'm avoiding the doom and gloom threads.

(31,261 posts)on average, he wins Florida. The key for Democrats in Florida is to not let the small counties hurt us by yielding big margins to Trump. I like what my red county is looking like, in 2016, there were Trump signs and vehicle decals everywhere it seemed, on a drive I would see several hundred. Now, I may see 10-20 on a drive. We have around 225,000 registered voters, if Joe gets 2,000-4,000 more that Hillary got in my county, Trump is in trouble statewide. If Joe only does +1,000 in my county, he is still in good shape statewide, though we would need the big urban counties to weigh in heavier for him.

(1,584 posts)It can be swung. Even if we keep it close there its good. Flagler is more republican.
High turnout is generally good.
