As a historian who has written about the Holocaust, I'll tell you: Trump and @FoxNews pundits praising the goons who tried to run the Biden/Harris bus off the road is straight-up fascism. It's not "like" fascism. It's fascism.

Trump Praises Drivers That Biden Campaign Says Tried To Run Bus ‘Off The Road’
The Biden campaign canceled the rest of the bus tour out of an ‘abundance of caution’ after the pickup trucks surrounded a campaign bus on the highway.

It's the prelude to it. Fascism comes when Trump declares himself president for life and gets confirmed by the Supreme Court, in which all judges who are not aligned with him have been purged. Pre-fascism comes when the leader comes into power through extralegal means, then dismantles any competing power structures. What Trump is advocating is fascism. His win in 2016 was mostly legal, if assisted by enemies of the country. He's lost (if he ever had) any semblance of understanding how government is supposed to work, and is now at a point where he's doing anything and everything to stay in power. Faustian bargains usually aren't really bargains.

He's had much more success than he should have, though- our system's figurative "immune response" should have had the teeth to toss him out long before now.
