Pennsylvaina AG: FACT CHECK: Our elections are over when all the votes are counted... try us.

Josh Shapiro @JoshShapiroPA

FACT CHECK: Our elections are over when all the votes are counted.

But if your lawyers want to try us, we’d be happy to defeat you in court one more time.

Daniel Dale @ddale8

Trump on Pennsylvania ballots being counted if they arrive up to three days after Election Day: "We're going to go in the night of. As soon as that election's over, we’re going in with our lawyers."

That's why all of the talk about Trump being named emperor by the Supreme Court, overriding the laws of maybe half a dozen states, has been a little silly.

Arizona Legislature v. Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission, when Article I of the federal Constitution empowers the “legislature” of each state to regulate various aspects of congressional elections, the word “legislature” means the lawmaking process set up by a state’s constitution: Nothing in the federal Constitution, she said, “instructs, nor has this court ever held, that a state legislature” may regulate “federal elections in defiance of the provisions of the state’s constitution.”

Thus, when a state’s highest court interprets its own state’s election law as written by that state’s legislature, as Pennsylvania’s highest court did in ruling that its election code allowed the counting of mail in ballots received three days after election that were mailed by 8pm Election Day, federal courts have no business substituting their own interpretation, nor can state legislatures act independently of a state’s own constitutional structure to appoint electors. This “let’s help Trump win by any means necessary” hackneyed legal theory endorsed by Kavanaugh and Thomas and Alito totally tramples the right wing’s long trumpeted belief in state’s rights. But then as we’ve seen quite clearly by their blessing of right wing power grabbing actions, that was a mere BS fig leaf to justify states denying people the basic constitutional rights that flow from national citizenship in contravention of the intent of the framers of the 14th amendment, which its architects designed to stop post-Civil War suppression of the basic human rights of newly freed slaves by the treasonous Confederates that they foresaw would control those states.

YES! Thank you, Pennsylvania Attorney General!

The bad guys don't want to leave it at that, but I'm glad that's a big stumbling block now in their way. May there be MANY more!

as long as they're postmarked by election day:
https://www.npr.org/2020/10/19/922411176/supreme-court-rules-pennsylvania-can-count-ballots-received-after-election-day

The State Supreme Court ruled this way in September, and some Republican goon group challenged that all the way to the USSC, who declined to hear the case.

Here’s my message to Trump supporters. If you think it’s perfectly fine to ram cars and buses of a political opponent on one of the busiest highways in America, risking multiple collisions and potential deaths or major injuries for dozens of people, then you are just the same scum as those terrorists on I35. You are no better than the ISIS supporters who think their beliefs are worth beheading innocent people to send a warped message, and I hope you rot in hell.

Of on April 15th as long as you have your taxes post marked by that date they are considered filed.

A vote either in person or postmarked by the election closing time in your state counts.
