Hong Kong anti-government protesters are rooting for 'tough Trump' to defeat 'soft Biden'

The debate in online forums frequented by Hong Kong anti-government protesters has heated up over the United States presidential candidates ahead of Tuesday’s election.

Hollywood star Anne Hathaway came under fire after she revealed on Instagram that she had voted for Democratic Party candidate Joe Biden, with Hong Kong netizens attacking her on the reddit-like forum LIHKG.

“I regret that I watched The Witches,” said one, referring to her new movie.

“Welcome to Chinawood to develop your career,” said another sarcastically, suggesting the actress was pro-Beijing.

Biden is not the favourite among Hong Kong protesters and some prominent opposition figures who prefer US President Donald Trump to win a second term, believing he will be tougher on China.

They should realize that he doesn't care about them. He cares about him. He's happy to kiss China if he thinks it helps him.

including one of a big HK media and newspaper guy. Strangely, the newspaper guy's right hand man (a US person) is the origin of the Hunter Biden laptop story and news broke in HK a few days ago and this newspaper guy denied of links to Hunter Biden Chinese connection story. The newspaper guy has long been believed to have his money coming from the US.

A lot of the HK protestors believed that US money helped them and they are very very pro-Trump. I've followed HK news for many years.

EDIT: Here is a link to the news report

two that wanted Trump, while the rest (South Korea, Japan, China, etc) all wanted Biden to win.

There were a lot of rumors that US funneled money in the HK protest that's linked to the origin of the fake Hunter Biden laptop story. The guy that created is the right hand man for a HK based big newspaper guy. And this big newspaper guy drove a lot of the HK protests. Sadly, HK is very pro-Trump.
