One deputy appeared to be leaning against the car, hands holding onto the brush guard with the other deputy facing him, apparently engaged in conversation, as participating vehicles lined the street and passed by.

7. What a bunch of idiots

Many, many D votes are already banked all over the US, including, and especially in CA. It is the Rs that need to get votes in now, and this kind of stupidity doesn't aid in that.

On a related note, I drove from the Bay Area to Nevada to be a poll observer yesterday. There were a TON of California Highway Patrol (CHiP) car on the interstates. I hope they are on look out for these idiots to block traffic. If they do and CHiPs assist them (or doesn't stop them), I'll take a photo of everyone of them and send them to the Governor's office.

13. To be fair......

The police "usually" give a lot of latitude to peaceful displays of civil disobedience - even when it involves traffic snarls.

What isn't usual is them ignoring violence directed at the public by those protestors. It also isn't usual for them to shield and support those protestors.

I don't really have an issue with snarling traffic as a means of protest. It won't keep people from polls.

Police unions, sheriff's organizations, etc, are now breeding grounds and holding stations for the neo nazis and white supremacists. It's bad law enforcement that is aiding and abetting the takeover of the USA by the fascists.

that we need to de-militarize the police, their training, their hiring practices, and their oversight. We also need to demilitarize the public.

No citizen needs hand grenades, automatic weapons, or machines of war and mass destruction.

The 2nd amendment contains the phrase "Well Regulated" when mentioning militias. Todays militias aren't. Even when they wear official uniforms.
