(130,865 posts)I watched a different guy over the weekend on MSNBC trying to explain the polls. It was pretty bad... Steve K is a little hyper, but nothing offensive, or stupid, or arrogant. So, ya, I wont change the channel when hes on.

(159 posts)I think Kornacki is a phony and as bothsidesy as it gets. Trump is getting killed in the polls, yet he presents WI and MI as if they could go either way. Either he is an analyst or he isn't.

(25,586 posts)Cable news is entertainment first, foremost, and always. Just like Rachel Maddow drawing five minutes of information and analysis out to an hour broadcast. Theyre trying to keep your eyes on the screen so they can sell you to their advertisers. Youre the product.

(32,633 posts)... and I think he does it well. Granted sometimes he's a little over the top, but he makes these dry numbers interesting, and he does good research. The MSNBC hosts don't want to do that stuff, so everyone is glad Steve is doing the brunt of it.

But yeah, all of you who can't stand him, or don't like any other person out there, changing the channel or even turning your TV off entirely is always an excellent option.

(22,912 posts)when he drills down on a specific election return down to which bell weather precincts are reporting and how, and when he isolates specific demographic groups and compares how they are reacting this election compared to another, or how they share similarities with voters in other states where more returns are available, he is the best at the business.
I watch him to help understand what is really going on. Most of the time he says stuff I already know in an unpleasant way, but sometimes he really delivers the goods, and that is why I always pay attention to his segments.

(1,351 posts)I used to think he was almost rooting for bad news in results and polls (bad news for Dems). But now I think its just he gets so excited by the data that hes tone deaf about presentation.
Anyway, he just makes me too nervous so I change the channel when he comes on.

(8,964 posts)Yes, his Joe Cocker-ish hand gestures can be a bit much at times, although his analytical approach to interpreting election data, polling, demographics, and trends is helpful, over and above the raw numbers we see most of the time. He seems objective in his presentations, and not focused on providing biased happy talk for a mostly liberal audience. Not to say that he is always right in his forecasts, but who is?

There is already way too much hate already. We don't need
to hate people we typically will never encounter in real life
let alone carry that useless baggage around rent free in our heads.
Be safe. Vote!
