As Christians throughout this great Country celebrate All Souls Day, lets remember those who went before us and built this great nation. May their legacy inspire us as we keep our nation what it has always been: blessed and great!

(10,134 posts)Which is a Holy Day of Obligation for the Catholic Church in the US. All Souls Day, Nov. 2, is observed but is a lesser holiday, although some Catholic cultures, namely Mexican and Louisiana Creole/Cajun, make a big deal of it. Despite its claims to be catholic and universal, the Catholic Church is not always rigid: some regions and cultures have their own popular saints who get more attention there than in other places.

(18,640 posts)is All Souls Day, an important day but not a 'day of obligation.' All Saints Day, 11/1, is. And I don't think non-Catholic Christians give All Souls much attention.

(14,959 posts)So while it's a satisfyingly snarky quip, it is incorrect and it excluded Catholics from "we Christians." Thumbs down from me.

(63,221 posts)but other Christians do "celebrate", or rather observe the day. Catholics, Anglicans, Lutherans, Methodists and Eastern Orthodox sects.
It really bothers me how Evangelicals think that they are the only ones who are real "Christians", even though most of them are the furthest thing from the true definition of a Christian.

(16,926 posts)BunkerBoy couldn't even BEGIN to give you an explanation as to what ANY of these days of observance mean, unless it was another day for more people to show up and beg for an early "Tee-time" at one of his golf clubs!
HE'S a fraud, and grabbing at ANYTHING to get one more person to vote for him.
I wonder if he'll ask for a bible when he's in his cell - all alone??????
