I live in the Cleveland suburbs here in lovely Ohio. Every election, I have voted in person at my polling location and the longest I have ever waited was about 5 minutes.
It is 37° at the moment. The sun is trying to peak over the horizon but hasnt quite made it. There is a cold wind but it is clear and no rain. The line to vote wrapped completely around our giant rec center when I got here at 6:15am. I have not seen one person leave the line and that line is made up of mostly 40 somethings and younger.
I saw my neighbor here
in shorts. Hes not leaving. Hes voting for Biden.
Go vote America.

Thanks everyone for the rec list! Quick update it took me almost two hours to cast my ballot. When I came out, the line had fully wrapped around the building, almost twice as long as when I got there at 6:15. The kid in front of me was 18 and voting for the first time and he was fired up to do so. The young poll workers outnumbered the old by 3 to 1 which was amazing. I didnt hear one mention of Trump the entire time. The crowd in line seemed to skew toward the younger side, but that is probably to be expected with the pandemic. I have never felt better about voting than I did today.

(25,921 posts)A few winters ago, we experienced -40 wind chill, and it was the only time I saw nobody in shorts.

(4,385 posts)where we wore buffalo plaid wool jackets. When we moved to Dayton and Columbus, OH we noticed that folks here wore shorts and no coats all winter. All we heard was "WTH are you wearing. You cold, or something?" so we switched out to lined windbreakers as local culture demanded and never looked back. Hey, the air was noticeably cleaner and the rivers and mayor's hair didn't burn, at least! Glad to see Clevelanders are adapting to the fashion demands of younger generations, LOL! I miss the excitement of the complicated weather Lake Erie provides but not the lake's wind-driven waves crashing and and freezing on I-90's lakefront. Wheeeeeeeeee...and white knuckles, LOL!

(1,725 posts)Yes, the wind! I personally am not one those shorts people - though I did go out in shorts yesterday to put out the garbage bins!
The air today is nippy and crisp but very fine - perfect. The sun is out, it is a bee-you-tee-ful day! And I can see the lake from my porch through the trees! I love it here - except when I have to shovel!
One of my best friends moved to Columbus not too long ago. The weather is not missed!
